Cure AHC supports several collaborative research projects around the world through our primary partnership with Duke University. These projects, which span from Sweden and Germany to the United States (at Columbia University, University of Michigan, and University of Miami), focus on investigating a variety of treatment/cure potentials and basic science theories. This research is critical to the process of treatment approval with regulatory agencies. We are also preparing a natural history of AHC, which is a vital component in getting a treatment approved. All this amounts to about $600,000 in funding needed. We have a number of completed and ongoing fundraisers to help in making this goal.
Leith Nissan of Cary, NC kicked off a Facebook Charity contest which will continue monthly through the end of the year. The contest highlights local charities making a difference. The highest vote recipient throughout the month wins $500. Cure AHC won the inaugural month! Co-founders Jeff & Renee Wuchich visited the dealership to receive the check. More good news: Cure AHC will be able to re-enter the contest in May. Thank you to everyone who voted, and keep watching for the chance to help us win again in May!
AHC Champion Patrick (Indonesia) and his family helped raise $750 US for Cure AHC. Sekolah Ciputra, an International Baccalaureate school in Surabaya, Indonesia, once again this year kindly gave the parents of AHC sufferer Patrick Way, 7, the opportunity to raise money for CureAHC during the school’s drama production. As well as putting on a fantastic performance of The Wizard of Oz, the student, parent and teacher members of the school community kindly contributed 8.3 million rupiah (600USD) to CureAHC. Special thanks to Ibu Sioe Ing and family who, as always, helped collect donations on the night. There was an additional $150 US raised afterwards. Well done to all the students and teachers for a spectacular evening and thank you for your donations!
Margaux Hufnagel is selling Jamberry like a BOSS! Jamberry is the latest nail fashion craze, marketed through a direct sales channel. Margaux is riding that wave (and leveraging her awesome people skills) to spread awareness about AHC and her son, AHC Champion James (MA, USA). Last year she raised $3,500 for Cure AHC through this route (with a generous match from the Nick Katsiroubas Foundation to make it $7,000). This year Margaux has already raised $2,000 towards a $10,000 goal. To support Margaux’s fundraiser via click here!
March Madness in US College Men’s Basketball is a fun time for armchair predictors to practice “bracketology” –filling out the elimination rounds to the Championship. Kudos to Ben Johnson, dad to AHC Champion Delaney (VT, USA) for setting up a fundraising bracket group on ESPN’s site. This is the 4th time he has done this, with the $6 entry fee split 50/50 between the winner & Cure AHC (though the winner has donated their winnings to Cure AHC each time). We are grateful to all the participants!

The family of AHC Champion Kaylin (NC, USA) put on a Cookout Fundraiser for Cure AHC on March 19. There were plates of different sizes, with choices of chicken & fish, with multiple sides. Despite rain that day, there were many orders from businesses (they delivered within a certain radius for orders 10 or greater) and extra donations are still coming in. Thank you to everyone who ordered and donated!
