Kickin’ It for Koryn fundraiser signKickin’ It for Koryn – This was a DJ, food, and silent auction extravaganza organized by our Family Support Chair Stacie Confair-Stringer, in honor of her AHC Champion Koryn (PA, USA). She reports “A huge thank you to everyone that helped prepare, set up, attend, tear down, donate, etc. to help make Kickin It For Koryn a success! We did not have as many in attendance, but great things happen in small numbers and boy did it! 🙂 Today we raised $1,753.25. That much closer to a cure for AHC! Thank you and be blessed!”

Community of Sekolah Ciputra fundraising collageThe Community of Sekolah Ciputra, an IB World school in Surabaya, Indonesia, has continued their unprecedented support of student and AHC champion Patrick Way, and of Cure AHC through a number of fundraising initiatives this year. In addition to $650 raised through the school production of The Wizard of Oz and $150 from a group of year 11 students who chose Cure AHC as their school community and service project, there have been two more recent contributions which are worthy of mention.

Student Rachelle Alfina Sutanto decided to make her “Year 10 Personal Project” in support of Cure AHC. Rachelle wrote an original piece of piano music composed with the aim of providing relaxation and stress relief through music therapy. She also selected, arranged, played and recorded four songs, compiling them as an album. After selling these albums at the personal project exhibition and in her own time outside school, she managed to raise 2,275,000 Indonesian rupiah, approximately $170! The student council at the school (OSIS) followed Rachelle’s efforts by organizing a classical concert in the school theatre, titled “Bippity Boppity Boo” and comprised entirely of Disney orchestral scores. There were some incredible performances from the wider community of musicians in the region enjoyed by the 500 folks in attendance. The student council reported 5,000,000 Indonesian rupiah collected in contributions from the event, approximately $375! We at Cure AHC are very grateful for the generous support and awareness these fine students have exhibited. They are an inspiration to us all, as is the Way family – especially Patrick!
